I have a problem on a few PCs with Word and Windows 2000. When searching a network (Netware 4.2) drive for a file the computer occasionally hangs for several minutes in the middle of displaying the list of files and folders in network folders. Preview is not on, although the problem seems to be worse in Details view. It does not always happen in the same folder, but tends to happen more in the work folder, which contains a over 100 folders and some files.

Thanks in advance.

That sounds to be more likely a problem with your network rather than with word. I've seen even the best networks occasionally have this lag as you are browsing around the network. Do you have a way to measure the bandwidth while browsing?

You could be on the right track. I'm beginning to suspect the network cards in the offending machines, as other dissimilar PCs on the network have no trouble whatsoever, so I'll have to check the 3com Forums here...

Thanks for the reply.
