I have w2k server with IIS, can see all websites inside firewall, can't see any of the websites outside of the firewall. If your outside the firewall you can ping the websites using ip's or by their full name and you will get a reply. when you type in the url at the bottom of the screen it says connecting to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx but then it comes up the 401 error. I have checked the forward & reverse lookups, uninstalled & reinstalled IIS. It was working fine but I did make some changes in the config of the firewall but I changed them back.
Any help will be appreciated.

I would take a look at the firewall again and make sure your are allowing http traffic to that server.

401 error is typically access denied. Is the internet guest account enabled on the web server (IUSR_servername)?

You were right it was a configuration error in my firewall. Excellent! Thank you!
