I have a desktop PC running XP Pro on my home workgroup. Any computer connected to the router with a cat5 cable can access this PC no problem. When I remove my laptop from the wired connection and enable the WiFi, I get denied access into the XP Pro desktop.

I have had the same behavior using a laptop with Windows 2000 Pro, and with a Macintosh OS X. I have tried every fix suggested after googling the problem but nothing has solved it. No computer is running a firewall and the wirless computers can "SEE" the desktop- they just get denied access. I thought maybe someone has seen this happen.

BTW, I have not installed SP1 on any computers yet.

Take a look at the wireless interface, what kind of protocols does it uses?

Are the same with the protocols that your wired interface has?

Make sure that both the Windows & Client Wireless apps are not running.. hench both the Windows & DLink/Linksys wireless apps. In 2000 & I believe non SP XP could have conflicts by it.

I'll have to check the protocol and apps tonight when I get home but for now I can say that the wireless laptop and wireless MAC can access a wired PC with XP Home Edition.
