WNAD.EXE...is this file important? 1

I happened to bring up my Task Manager today and noticed that for no apparent reason my CPU usage was constantly maxed out. Scanning through the task list, the culprit was WNAD.EXE which I'd never heard of before. So I searched my hard drive for it and found it in the \WINNT folder.

After ending the task, everything seems fine. There is also a file called WNAD.DAT which is a text file containing a few numbers and the string "intro2.php".

Is this a normal Win2k file that should be in my WINNT folder, or does it sound more like a virus/trojan?

What programs are running? I have not herd of this file. That does not mean it is not a Windows Process. However, MSDN does not register this file as well. Could be a virus. Again what programs are istalled? What services are running? IIS? James Collins

This computer is just a workstation. There aren't any server processes at all running on it. The only things I have installed to run all the time are PC Anywhere and Norton AntiVirus. I've never noticed this file until today, but it has a Created and Modified date of last October (both are the same).

Is PC anywhere running in the systray? If so kill it and see if it (wnad) goes away. If not Let me know. James Collins

Do a google search. It is adware. Probably want to get rid of it.
