Apparently my WMI is corrupt and is causing errors logging onto some servers within my games.

So before I perform a repair installation, I have a few questions:

1) Is there another way to repair WMI?
2) How long does a repair "In-place install" take?
3) After a Repair Install, do you ahve to install SP1a and all critical updates agian?? That'd take a while....

WMI should have absolutely nothing to do with remote server issues.

To answer your questions #2 and #3:

A2. About an hour
A3. Yes.

If you give me the exact WMI errors, I can answer question #1 in the affirmative I believe.

If I go into the properties box of my Ethernet Card, and I go into the Advanced Tab, I get this message:

Windows cannot display the properties of this connection. The WMI info. might be corrupted. To correct this, use system restore......blah blah blah...

I tried to use system restore, but it appears it's been "Suspended", and there are no available restore points.

I've ried reinstalling my Network Card "NetGear FA311/312 PCI Ethernet Adapter" but it doesn't wolve the problem

The error I get in my game no-one could dechipher for you anyway, but here it is:

Unhandled Exception! in Version 1.01 Build 528

Any of these apply?

Some general things to try.

See if System Restore will get you back to a restore point before your problem with WMI.

Run the System File Checker program from the Run Box by typing.....Sfc /Scannow in it and have your XP CD handy.

If they don't work you could try repairing windows itself by running it over itself. You will lose all your windows updates but your files will be untouched.
