Hi all,

Ok I have unique problem, when my PC goes to sleep mode (or if my power goes off) and turns off the HDD it wont wake up. What I have resorted to doing is this:

1) I first try my best to touch every button on the keyboard and mouse to get the PC to wake. But to no avail.

2) Next I turn off the PS button on the back of the PS, then I turn that back on then I try pushing the power button on the front of the case. But to no avail, nothing a dead box.

3) Then I turn off the PS Button again, and I remove my PCI sound card, and my PCI eithernet card, I turn the Power Supply button back on, and push the button on the case and success, it will start.

4) Then once in Windows I turn off the PC at the start menu, and then I plug in the eithernet card and sound cards back in (without turning off the power supply button) and then I depress the Power button on the front of the case. Success everything is running.

5) What is going on here?

In case this helps here's my system specs:
1) ASUS A8N-E
2) AMD FX55
3) 2 GB DDR400
4) ATI X1800XT
5) DVD-RW
6) 3.5 Drive (Yes I still have one)
7) 100GB 7,200 HDD
8) 4 USB ports and 2 on the front.
9) 3 cooling fans (small)

When your PC is active and healthy, right-click the Desktop,>Properties,>Power and disable all Hibernate, standby and sleep options. Remember to Apply & OK your way out.

(or if my power goes off)

You may be due for a new PSU. Next time, remove the cable from the power supply, wait a few minutes, then reconnect. I suspect you did this when removing your PCI cards. You should always have a Smart UPS connected to your PC to shut things down properly in the event of a power outage.

The PSU is 2 months old and been running perfectly, it's a 500W SmartPower Antec, does anyone else think it's the PSU? I do have a UPS connected. Once the system is up running there seems to be no issues at all. Any other theories?

Just because the PSU is new does not mean it is good. A member here just got two bad Antec PSUs back-to-back. Made me rethink my server's Antec PSU, as I have had problems that could be PSU-related.

If you have an old PSU laying around, take a few minutes and see if it's any different. If not, the PSU will have been eliminated from discussion. Wacky problems like this always seem to be PSU-related...or the cord from the PSU to the mains...or the mains itself. Change all (plug into different outlet or power strip don't change the outlet LOL).

Of course it could also be an IRQ issue, but at least then the BIOS would start. Look around in the BIOS for "wake" options, or load BIOS optimum defaults.

Hi All...

Hey guys i need to add something here...

hey JSD, If u think PSU is ok, have u tried the card on different PCI slot of the same computer and check the same problem occurs or not

or you can try the card on the different computer as well

Might be the the particular PCI slot could be wrong or the card itself

Have u tried any other PCI card on this computer... if not

try all these as well... might be they help u to track the problem occur and it'll make sure to u that the h/w is also fine and no worries about that.

thanx
