Hello all. I installed a couple of 802.11g components on my pal's Presario running WIN2000 Pro. He has a cable modem connection. The Wireless PCI Card was the Netgear Wireless NIC (WG511), and the Router was the Netgear Super G (WGT624).

After installing both of them and setting up the router, I was told I had a valid Internet connection, and I appeared to be done. However, I have no Internet access even though the Link is at 100% for the PCI Wireless. The cable modem is showing fine, but the "Internet" icon on the Router is flashing, not solid. Repeated checks of the physical components show them to be fine, but still no Internet, despite repeated re-bootings, etc.

I installed the PCI card before I installed the router, and was wondering if that would affect it at all. Should I uninstall the PCI card, establish a solid connection with the router, and then re-install the PCI card? If not that, what other advice do you have? Thanks in advance...

Make sure in the setup for both the pci card and the router that they are set to use infrastructure mode and not ad-hoc. Also make sure they have the same SSID and WEP key if it's enabled. Also check that the PCI cards mac address is listed as allowed if mac address based security is enabled.
