Hey!

A friend of mine lives about 100m away from my house.

We were looking at the possibility of running a wireless connection to join are networks together - and i have a couple of questions!

1) what kind of cost am i looking at?

2) Is there any problems with broadcasting over a peice of public land? (UK)

3) is it likely to have any interuptions due to weather ect.?

TIA

Depends whether you wanna run peer-to-peer (two wireless cards) or an infrastructure network (using an Access Point).
Prices will range from USD$300-400 for an infrastructure(1 unit Access Point and 2 Wireless PCMCIA cards), working downloads in terms of cost.

2) Is there any problems with broadcasting over a peice of public land? (UK)
Any takers for this question? Not too sure. But point to note is that Wireless LAN works on the 2.4Ghz spectrum, which is a public spectrum and which most cordless (home) phones ride on. So if you are allowed to use cordless phones and they run on the same frequency, it should be a-ok, but pls check local regulations.

3) is it likely to have any interuptions due to weather ect.?
Nope, not that I know of. What say u, Fulkrum?
