Hello all,
Just got my laptop (IBM), and I'm experiencing some problems with my wireless setup.

I've got an SMC wireless router (11Mbps), and the laptop is running winxp. When I log on to XP and I go to network configuration, I manage to find my wireless connection. I put in the network key, and voala....I'm connected.

The problem arrises however after about 5 min, the wureless network connection is dropped! I then have to open the network connecitons configuration window, and sign on again. After another 5 or so minutes, the connections get dropped again....and so on...

This happens while I'm sitting in the same spot (not moving around)!

Is there something I have to do in XP to no have it drop the connecion every 5 minutes?

Thanks for your help

Are you using DHCP? Is there a limit on the lease-time of IP addresses?

Have you tried using a different wireless card? Maybe disable your current wi-fi devide and then use a PCMCIA wi-fi card and see if the same problem occurs? This will help determine if it is a hardware problem.

Have you tried using a different router? Or joined a different WLAN?
