OK.... hopefully someone here will have some ideas.

Here's the scenario. My daughter has a laptop with wireless, and we have wireless in the house.

She's only supposed to be on the 'net an hour a day.

I have a Linksys BEFW11S4 router, and I'd like to write a little script that I could run as a scheduled task.

To turn ON the wireless (or enable her mac address passthrough) at a certain time....

To turn OFF the wireless (or disable her mac address passthrough) at a certain time + 1 hour. :)

It's one radio button to turn on/off the wireless, but of course, I have to log onto the web page, click the button, click submit.....

Any thoughts on this?

gbaughma,
I'm thinking out loud here, but have you tried to write a vb script which will enable the card and another to disable the card. Then with the Windows Schedule Task Wizard you can set the time to run your "enablecard.vbs" and then set another task ( "disablecard.vbs" to run one hour later. Also, if the person reboots, you can make a text file which will tell you if the disablecard.vbs has been launched this way every time she reboots, the script will fire to disable it.

Unfortunately, my daughter's pretty savvy.... so it would have to be something I ran on my server (which she doesn't have access to) to turn on/off the Linksys wireless.....

You know, the Linksys has a web interface... if I could figure out what it's passing, I might just be able to pass that back out.... I should look at the source for the Linksys and see if I could emulate the submission of the form to turn it on/off.

If you have a server then install a proxy server and limit the surfing hours that way without the need for changing the wireless card.

You can get a low cost solution that was highly rated by Mark Gibbs at Network World from Youngzsoft. Their product is CCProxy.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Mark
