I have tried several times to use a wireless keyboard and mouse with little success. A previous attempt with Logitek yielded BSD. Similar problems with another brand. I have tried to use a targus bluetooth mouse, and it skips and halts.

Tips and comments on wireless input in general would be appreciated. I am thinking of trying again before this year's deductions run out.

Think you might be better in forum750 or forum602 - this is for hard drive issues.

Quick comment on your question - most wireless mice/keyboards I've tried have just worked - but I've just returned a mouse and a keyboard which didn't. So 'luck of the draw'? Buying good brands might be the answer - but I doubt it. Don't know about bluetooth mice/keyboards, haven't tried them yet.

I'll check, but I read it as PC Hardware - hard drives. Not that they aren't problem enough.

I have been real lucky with wireless mice\keyboards, never ever had a problem. Most of the ones i have or have used are logitech and i have developed a lot of faith in logitech wireless mice and keyboards. But i did get a microsoft wireless keyboard that I could never get going and returned it. Just the luck of the draw, nothing against Microsoft units, they are as good as any i would imagine. Im only saying all this as you asked for comments.
I wish there was one answer to help you but i will try with what little i can come up with. Bear in mind you may have just gotten a bad one, maybe twice. I am using 3 sets of logitech keyboard and logitech trackballs on 3 of my pc's and i really like them a lot. I wouldnt ever use a mouse since i got a trackball years ago, but the install part is the same, mouse or trackball.

Only things i can think of:
Make sure you uninstall any existing mice or keyboard drivers before you install new ones.
Make sure you have good, fresh batteries. Mice and keyboards, i have found, tend to start acting up when the batteries are only partly used up. When that happens the mouse pointer acts up, i take the battery or batteries out and put fresh ones in but i keep the old batteries for flashlights, mp3 players, and my Sony minidisk player and the batteries still work in all of these.
Also, i noticed that when doing a new install or after replacing batteries i have to press the little "restart" or "connect" buttons on them quite a few times before the unit will start working.
Finally, you could have some setup around your pc that could cause electromagnetic or some other type of interference. I cant think of what it could be but its possible. Maybe a radio or tv that is close to your pc?

Good advice + great people = tek-tips

Thanks. And I just figured out that I came here incorrectly because only the forums I use are shown on the side bar. Duh. I will take this to one of the other forums, but feel free to answer here, if you have any further thoughts. JLL
