Hello to all,
Here's one that has me stumped: we built a new PC, AMD Athlon 1.2, 256MB RAM and XP (Home). Everything works great, install new apps, it behaves like the 5 that we have done before. This is to replace a Compaq Presario 4910 running Win95 (!) that had many docs & other files that the user wanted brought over. I connected the two by ethernet, and executed the "Files and Settings Transfer Wizard" (as I have done before, but never between Win95 & XP). Everything that we wanted was transferred, BUT now the names of everything: Application names on the desktop, file names in Explorer, appear "underlined". I tried changing the font used, or the "effects" (like turning off the shadow, etc.) but I cannot find where and/or how to change this. Any suggestions, I've not been able to find anything in the MS knowledge base...

Not on XP at the moment - but isn't this in folder options - underline icon titles?

Also, is the setting set to "click once to open" stuff? That also puts underlines under everything. Jennifer Sigman

Thanks, you're both right. This "feature" existed before XP, and I didn't know it was there. In my defense, the user didn't either! Maybe it's because my primary job is as an AIX admin, but I've never explored the depths of MS Windows "customization". From my point of view, I have enough work just supporting user applications (that they can't change how things look!)!
