WinXP and photoshop7 error

I upgraded to WIndows XPPro and now when I try to start photoshop 7 it comes up with a small error saying "the handle is invalid". Tried uninsatll/reinstall, Adobe & MS Knowledge bases. Nothing there. Worked fine on Win2k, but on XP it will not even open the app.
Any ideas?
