I use Compaq Evo D500 desktop PC with a legacy module for parallel/serial connections.
When i install the printer, i can print whatever i want. As soon as i restart it, or log off, no matter who i logon as, it will not print. I am unable to update drivers as these are supposed to be the most recent. I have tried making the LPT port 2 instead of 1, changed how it handles spooling. I'm not sure where permissions for printers are set, but i don't think its this as even the user who installs it cannot print a second time successfully.. If logged on as the user who installed it, there is an error msg:
"This document failed to print". Then lists the doc name, time, and printer name. When i restart, and log on as the same user, the printer will spit out a blank page, then the document will follow..
Seems really strange, but hopefully something minor i've overlooked??

Check out the Print Spooler service make sure it is set to "Started" and "Automatic". Make sure it is not losing these settings between print jobs.

Also have a look in the Event Viewer. Look in the "System" and "Applications" folders and see if you can pick up any error messages.
