I hope someone can help me out with...i hope i am in the right forum!

Some one broght me a Dell Latitude laptop that is supposed to have an interchangeable floppy and cd rom drive. Let me cut to the chase here...i started the process of reformatting this drive as i was trying to upgrade to Win 2K. Theis laptop was originall running 98. Unfortunately i do not have the floppy drive...all i have is a cd drive...therefore i need to boot from a cd...to go into the command prompt so that i can format the hard drive and create enough space on the disk to load win2K Help!!!!

Where can i find theses files...

I went to boot disk dot com but when i tried to extract the downloaded files it asked me to insert a floppy.

Do you have a Win98 install CD? If so, go into setup and change your boot order so that the CD is first.
If not, when prompted to insert disk on bootdisk.com, simply redirect to your hard drive, or CD burner and save there. Then, burn from your hard drive if necessary. Then, chandge boot order on the laptop once you've got a boot cd ready.

You say "I started the process of reformatting this drive...". This suggests a total wipe of the complete disk, i.e. eliminate all traces of the W98 installation. Is that what you're trying to achieve? If yes, then by booting up on the W2K CD, it ought to offer you the option of where to put the new installation on the hard disk. You should be able to zap the old partition and make a new one for either all the hard disk space, or just a part of it.

As Roger says, 2k install CD has its own partitioning tools which you can use during the install process - so should be no problem (assuming machine is 2k compatible!)
