winnt40 won't load web site asp pages.

Hello out there...
I have configured DNS on this server, and have installed a template I purchased on the web. When I go to the URL, I get an error stating, "An error occurred on the server when processing the URL. Please contact the system administrator.
I've placed test pages on the site and have been able to access them (Test1.asp)

The Template I am installing uses .asp pages. I have gone to the IIS 4.0 console and added the default.asp page to the properties/document directory and moved the page to the top of the list.

Can't figure out why, when I go to the site, the page won't load?

Appreciate any help there might be out there...

it's a fairly general error. Perhaps the .asp you're calling has an error in it, or refers to another page you don't have?

Perhaps the code in the .asp file requires a later version of IIS?

Thanx for the input. I am a hardware person for the most part. Programming is not on my resume....

Could you give me more information on how I might find out what the problem might be? Thanx again...

Without seeing the template, I can't offer anything more.

If you've purchased this template, aren't you able to get help from the vendor? They will be in the best position to help you as they will know the template and the system requirements intimately.
