winME not responding

WinME hangs (freezes):

When certain pages are accessed using ie5.5 or ie6
system information
system restore
outlook express

I have to ctrl-alt-del and end-task the 'not responding'. If I attempt any of the above
again the computer totally hangs and I have to power-off/power-on to free it
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Use System Restore to roll your computer back to a date to before when your computer worked right. Before the error(s) started occuring.

To start System Restore, click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore. Or, in the Help and Support main screen, click Use System Restore under Fix a problem. Emachines, Celeron 600, 256 Mb RAM, 10 Gb HDD, ADSL.

If you noticed in the original problem, I cannot access 'system restore', my computer
hangs/freezes!
