ENVIRO: Exchange 2000, Windows 2000 SP3, Using Exchange Client on a mix of NT/2000 machines.
Some of our users have been complaining recently that when they send to some addresses the attachments appear as winmail.dat instead of the true attachment, we found this to be because the mail client was sending as Microsoft Exchange Rich Text Format. Exchange 2000 Server is set up too use the local client settings. So we cannot see and issue at that end. The Exchange client settings have suddenly changed in the last three months so that when people add addresses to the personal address book, the Always send to this recipient in Microsoft Exchange rich text format is automatically ticked. Does anyone know how this could of happened. Please note we use Exchange Client not OUTLOOK>

Does it only happen when sending to addresses that use Lotus Notes?

It doesn't matter what system we are sending too..

Do you use outlook or exchange client?
