Winkzme.exe task 1

While trying to run Scandisk on a WIN98SE machine, the utility continued to restart. I went to Selective startup and unchecked everything, rebooted and ran Scandisk again, only to encounter numerous restarts again.

Examination of Running Tasks under System Information showed "Winkzme.exe" was running. I have searched the Web for any reference to this program and can find nothing. Can you shed some light on this?!

Winkzme.exe is the klez worm virus. Go here type in klez and hit go and you'll find removal info and tools to get rid of it.

By the way, scandisk is restarting because something is running. You can try running it in safe mode since startup programs shouldn't be running there and you can also do it from dos. Also turn off the screen saver.
