I just purchased a new PC and I'm running Windows XP Pro with WinFaxPro 9 and an Intel 537EP modem, XP does not support the distinctive ring function, it has worked with all my other operating systems and PC's over the past 8 years, but Microsoft eliminated that function so they do not have to suporrt the various modems on the market. There have been some websites offering help but none of there fixes seem to work. I have one phone line with 2 numbers on it, the main number has a regular single ring and the other number which I use for my Fax has a double ring. Need to edit the registry to enable the distinctive ring function in XP. If all else fails I can always install a ring detector between the PC and the phone jack, (I'm trying to avoid that option). Thanks in advance to all who try to figure this out.
Have a Nice Day,
