Hi,

I have this weird thing going on with my autoupdates. I installed the KB828026 for about a dozen times now, but every day my windowsupdate says that there are new updates. When I look, it's that KB828026. How do I get rid of this problem? It's pretty annoying, doing the same routine everyday.

Thanks,
Steven

Thanks for the help, but the update is not in the list in my registry. Strange isn't it?

Steven,
You might want to download just that one patch and do an
install by it self. It is posssible that it doesn't work.
You should be able to tell by trying manually.

Thanks Bob, I'll try that. I'll let you know!

Steven,
Also if you look for the registry key, look in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\Windows Media Player
828026 is a media player patch

Found and deleted it. Now I'll re-install the patch and hope that everything's fine now.

thanks a lot,
Steven

Is this the only update that is acting this way? There is a virus that makes sure that you cannot do any windows updates. You think that you are doing them but they never actually work. If every other update works, you are okay. If you have this problem with other updates, you might want to explore this. I can give you a link to info on this virus if you think that may be it.

It's the only update as far as I know. I did a virus check in the beginning of the week and norton didn't find anything suspicious.

I just ran a windowsupdate, but he didn't find anything to install, so it seems that the problem has been solved!

Thank you guys,
Steven
