I just received a used pc running windows XP but when I boot up it prompts me for an id and pw which I don't have. Is there a way to bypass this prompt on boot up?

Thanks in advance

shouldn't you be asking this in the windows XP forum?? This is the Win 2000 forum.

Anyway, have you tried using Administrator user without a password?

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

as per vacunita's post....

try booting into safe mode, and using 'administrator' and no password...
