Hi

A customer of ours receives at irregular times a pop-up window. It's a pop-up window I've only seen on Win 98 systems, it asks for the network password. Yet, in Win 98 your pc will ask you for this password right after booting. Now - Win XP - the system asks for the password while logged on and working on it. We already scanned with antivirus and with ad-aware. No results...

By the way, the pc asks for a network password (at least, this is what the title bar of the window says), but in this pop-up window, it seems like he tries to connect with his ISP's pop3-server.

Has anyone seen this before, or does anyone have any suggestions?

Under the Security settings for the ISP Properties see what he has selected there under Typical Settings, Validate My Identity. For Dial-up it is usually "Allow Unsecured Password" in the drop down box.
