I run Windows Xp Pro on a few computers here and I was wondering if anyone has had luck installing the SP on a XP computer.

I heard when SP1 came out a few months ago it was unstable? I notice that SP1a is on Microsoft website is SP1a the corrected SP with out the bugs in the first Service Pack.

Please Advise.

Thats what I heard also. And SP1a does not have the MS Java machine. You have to get the Sun version and install it seperate.

Has anyone had Success with Windows XP Professional SP1 or SP1a after they have installed the Service Pack ?

the only difference between SP1 and SP1a (as far as I know) is SP1a does not have Microsoft Java (because if the recent reversal of that ruling it will be interesting to see if we get SP1 back, or SP1b)

I have had absolutely no problems with SP1 or SP1a on any of the 5 machines at home - The majority of problems seem to stem from an upgrade of a previous version of windows, rather than a clean install

There is also a couple other minor (unnoticable) changes in 1a. There is also supposed to be a 1b coming out soon.
