Quick sanity check if someone doesn't mind...

Can someone confirm, what rights/permissions are necessary on a client workstation to enable adding a network printer that envolves downloading and installing printers?

I have no policies on my domain/workstation that restrict the installation of drivers - printer or otherwise...

However, when a user goes to install a network printer I receive an:

"a policy is in effect on your computer which prevents access to the print queue"

Any ideas?

Thanks in anticipation

Chris,

Is this printer on a Print server? I've seen it happen on there...if so, check the permissions on the server.

Failing that, log in as admin, try installing it then.
One you've installed it, log out and back in as the user. You should be able to install it then.

Thanks but installing as admin is not an option...

I have the printers setup on a print cluster...

I have kind of sorted this...It is 3rd party drivers that will not install as a user...

Anyone any ideas why MS based drivers will install but not 3rd party...This is not a driver signing issue and I am stumped

Thanks again

Chris
