Hi

Windows XP Media Center Edition
UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME ** STOP ** 0X000000ED (0X82F44030,0XC0000006 etc.

A friend has asked me if I can take a look at their Toshiba Laptop. It keeps rebooting at startup!

It's running Windows XP Media Center Edition, there is a Toshiba recovery CD, but that only seems to let me format the drive and re-install a fresh copy.

I've been told to try chkdsk /r from the CD recovery section.
But I don't have a Windows XP Media Center Edition CD, only Window XP Pro (Corp) and Windows XP Home (OEM).

Can I use one of these discs to boot to the recovery consol with and do the chkdsk /r?
Will this be ok for Windows XP Media Center Edition?

Many thanks, Craig.

You should be able to boot from any XP CD in order to run the Recovery Console command of ChkDsk /r.

Many thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Using the Win XP Pro (Corp) CD and chkdsk /r worked a treat!

Thanks again!

Craig.
