Just set up new windows xp machines, everything went smooth appart from the internet, Once you click on internet explorer it takes about 40-50 seconds before google pops up. After this initial connection it is very fast untill internet explorer is closed. Then it takes ages to load again. The DNS server address is inserted properly - no other machines have this problem.

Any ideas what i have done wrong?

Do you use a proxy server. One reason for this is that the proxy server isn't assigned. So IEs proxy engine will search for a proxy server before it can connect it. Im guessing if you go into IE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections > Lan Settings. You haven't got a Proxy address defined.

Let us know any more details of your problem/configuration.

Hope this Helps.

Nope, no proxy server. At the bottom it says detecting proxy server before anything happens....

We do not have any proxy server or anything set up, the vaules in those fields are identical to the ones on the old computers.

All is sorted now, it was automatically detecting the proxy server. Turned it off and its working perfect. Thanks for your help!
