I am trying to setup some hot keys under Windows XP Pro. I have been trying to set one up for INternet Explorer. Specifically I would like to use WinKey+I.

If I right click and properties on the main IE desktop icon it does not have any options to set a hot key.

If I right click on the IE icon tin my Quick Launch toolbar, I can set the hot key to ctrl+alt+I. But the sequence does not work.

I have a copy of all the built in hot keys for XP but this is not listed.

Thanks

I tried many combinations that I did not find in those lists. Any idea what one would work?

Thanks

Easiest way is to get a "Multimedia" keyboard. All the functions you want are built into the keyboard. I've seen them as low as $14.00 at Fry's Electronics.

If you create a new shortcut directly to c:\Program Files\Intenet Explorer\iexplore.exe does your hotkey assignment then work?

My concern is that there are some "special" qualities to the IE icons that appear on the Desktop and possibly in Quick Launch.

I found a solution to this and it was a lot simpler than I thought.

Instead of holding the WinKey down and then hitting the I, I hit the WinKey and release it and then the I. It works that way.

Since Internet Explorer is the only "I" item on my start menu it works. In fact any program on the start menu will work this way. If you have 2 programs with the same first letter you can rename one to an unused letter and that works also.

Thanks for the suggestions
