I have 3 computers on a shared network.
1 computer is using Windows 98, the other Windows 2000 Pro and the last one is Windows XP Home edition.

The computer that has Windows 2000 Pro is sharing a folder that can be access thru the Windows 98 machine without a problem. The one using Windows XP Home edition thought is constanly asking for a user ID and Password.

What I did was to add the user id Windows 2000 Pro machine and give him authorization. I thought this might work but not. Then I tried to remap that folder to the Windows XP machine using a different user id and password and still no luck!

Can anyone help me resolve this issue please. I would preciate a million.

Your current user name doesn't exist on the XP machine. To fix this, either enable the Guest account, or log in with a user name which has a valid account on the XP machine.

The current user name is valid, but its password doesn't match the password for that account on the XP machine. To fix this, either:
Change the password on one of the machines to match the other, or;
Enter the XP machine's password for that user name at the IPC$ prompt. Check the box to remember the password.
