WINDOWS vs LINUX?

Hi everyone:

I am thinking to switch to LINUX from Win2k, becuase of crashes, securety, patches, Worms etc., etc., of windows. These are few problems i m facing in windows 2k.
I want to know a little more about Linux if anyone of u already runing Linux then please guide me which one is best?
