Hello All,

Good Morning!

I bought an ACER laptop from bestbuy and in the package I am surprised there is no recovery disk. Is there any way I can create a recovery disk(Its original Windows Vista preinstalled on my computer) so that incase the computer crashes I can have the O/s reloaded.
My computer is uptodate as far as Windows Vista updates are concerned.
Thanks for your help in advance
Sean

You should contact acer to see if they have any steps to create one. But most manufactures put a partion on the hard drive for recovery. When the machine boots you may see an option for this feature.

I have just bought an ACER laptop with Vista Home Premium on it... when I set it up it offered me the chance to burn a recovery DVD...it even had two blank DVD's ready for the job. Did yours do the same?
As 'sleepsalot' says, manufacturers quite often put a recovery partition on the disk... if I look at my disk in disk management (right-click 'my computer' - manage - disk management) I can see an un-named partition... this is the recovery partition, take a look to see if you have same..(my model is Aspire 5633).

If you haven't and you weren't offered the initial back-up to DVD option then best practise would be to use something like O&O's Disk Image to make a backup image you can use to recover your entire disk if it goes badly wrong at a later date. With O&O you can do an initial image and then incremental ones thereafter...quite a handy feature... IMHO at any rate.

As far as I can remember (as I have since stripped of all the 'extra' software that was pre-loaded) ACER use NTI software to do the backup image....take a look in the program list to see if it is in there.

Thank you all for the help. I will check it back @ home later in the evening and update you. I am sure I have an option for recovery tool on the desktop as part of Acer other tools.

Thank you all once again for the help.

Hi Porabai,
Were you able to find the exact steps to create the recovery disk.

I have just purchased AS5570-4438, with windows Vista home premium. I haven't yet started it and believe it will give me an option to create the recovery disk but it would be helpful if I know the steps in case it doesn't give tyhe option or somehow I miss those steps.

Thanks a lot.
