Have an HP running XP Home. Had to do a recovery. Now cannot get Windows updates. When on the Microsoft site the message Saying "checking for the latest version of Windows update software" comes up and nothing happens. Have manually downloaded and installed SP2, but that didn't help. configured it to automatically download updates, but they will not download. Tried resetting all IE functions to the defaults. Don't know what else to try...
