Got any more info? You say a blank screen - is an error message displayed? how do you get out of it? Andy. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
hey - it is just a blank screen - with the message at the bottom of the screen saying done - when it first started happening - I think there was a message saying error at the bottom -

SYMPTOMS
When you attempt to access the Windows Update Web site using Internet Explorer 5.0, you may see a blank page, but receive no error messages.
CAUSE
The Visual Basic Scripting Support (VBScript) component failed to install properly on Internet Explorer 5.0 or became corrupted after the installation.
RESOLUTION
To reinstall the Internet Explorer 5.0 VBScript Support:
Click Start, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the Add/Remove icon.
Click the Install/Uninstall tab, select Microsoft Internet Explorer 5 and Internet Tools.
Click Add/Remove.
Click "Add a component" and then click OK.
Once the Internet Explorer 5 setup program has initialized, scroll down to the "Web Authoring Components" section and select the "Visual Basic Scripting Support" check box.
Click Next. You may receive a prompt warning you that the most recent version of the item selected is already installed. If this occurs, click "Reinstall all components" and then click OK.
When the download and installation of the VBScript Support component has finished, click Finish.
This should automatically restart your computer. If it does not, restart your computer prior to connecting to the Windows Update Web site.
