I just formatted my drive and with a fresh, clean drive went to update windows with the windows updater. I installed the components and everthing correctly and smoothly, and proceeded to download and install 16 security updates. Then, I restarted and checked again to find out I needed to install service pack 2. Now, when I go to start downloading the setup files all it does is fail. I tried doing custom install and the same thing happens. Is there anything I can do to make it work, because I need to download and install service pack 2?

See if you can get SP2 on CD, it is freely available from several places such as Computer - Magazines, Stores, Microsoft or even friends and colleagues.

To successful install SP2 your installation of Windows must be in pristine condition with no strange tweaks, spyware or adware etc.

For other SP2 help try this site.

Download it from a different site and then run Adaware or some other spyware program.

If anyone calls and says "I know a little something about computers" just tell them to reformat it.

Dear lord find that on CD...

we've had very bad things happen with downloading sp2

we ended up moving a copy off cd for our sus server...

*cringe* bad nightmares
