Windows update files 1

When I run windows XP folders are created in the root of C: drive. They are not deleted at the end of windows update.

Does anyone know something about this behaviour ?

If you mean the WUTemp folder then that is fine, XP keeps this folder on the system as a default. However the contents should be deleted automatically when the
update(s) have been installed.

You can delete the \WUTemp and the blue $NT...$ folders if you choose.

The c:\windows blue folders are essentially there to allow un-install, and you can clean them up if you choose.

The directory are not created into a temp folder but into c:Folder structure looks like this c:\ae1541fb87c54\sp2\update\update.exe

Any idea ?

These are the temporary folders used by Windows XP during hotfix installation. These should be deleted after the installation is complete.

If the installation was cancelled before it was finished, then these folders may not have be properly deleted. If you are not performing an installation and these folders exist, it is safe to assume that these can be manually deleted.

I've deleted the folder manually and there is no problem.
It seems that some hotfixes do not clean temporary folders properly !
