Hi has anyone had this problem. I'm going into the registry to point non domain computers to our time server, but after a while the registry changes go back to the default of trying to reach time.windows.com. It's important that these machines access the same time server to sync with as the domain machines, but we cannot add them to the domain.

Specifically, I change:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\W32Time\Parameters\
Key: Type to NTP

I then set the Key NtpServer to the IP address of our time server.
It syncs once after restarting the time service but then goes back to the default after a little while.

You can use a couple of different commands...

[blue]net time /setsntp:www.xxx.yyy.zzz[/blue]
or
[blue]w32tm /config /syncfromflags:MANUAL /manualpeerslist: /update[/blue]

The second command is only available on XP/2003 systems.

If these machines were part of a domain and then moved to a workgroup, some of the old GPO's may still be applying. Verify that time settings are not being set in the local system policy.
