My Windows XP Pro started getting very slow and eventually all apps refused to open. So... I reinstalled Windows XP Pro. During the install process, it claimed to delete the previous Windows XP install. However, now when I start my computer, it presents me with a black screen and simple white letters asking me to choose which Windows XP Professional I want to open. The top choice works, the second doesn't. How can I make my computer think I have only one Windows XP? Thx.

Go to My Computer properties, go to advanced tab and go to the startup and recovery option. There is a button to edit a file, delete the line that has the second OS that does not work.

Thanks! Maybe I can figure out my other problem in that startup file... When my desktop opens, there's an error box that states one program cannot be opened. It doesn't tell me which one. Maybe there's a log I can look at that shows the program open error?

Right click on My Computer, go to manage..there is aa event log you could look at to see what is opening. Also go to run type: msconfig and go to the startup tab, uncheck any programs that you do not want to run upon windows starting.
