Windows Slow Down

I recently converted my HDD to NTFS from FAT32 as I needed the extra file security. For some reason though whenever I open up an application my mouse drags like a dog. It doesn't matter what I open, whether its cpu intensive or just the Windows Explorer window, the slow makes it a nightmare trying to move the mouse around.
My system:
AMD XP 2100+
512 DDR RAM
40Gb ATA100 Hard drive (system)
20Gb ATA100 Hard drive (swap file)

Anyone know why? Reading through the Microsoft website they advise running 2000 on a FAT32 partition and putting your personal files on an NTFS partition. Is there someway of going back to FAT32?

Any help would be much appreciated.

NTFS systems do take longer to open files, depending on the options you have setup on the drive.

I would suggest saving all your files to a CD and reformatting your system. CJ

Don't drink and post, save that for driving home!
