I'm not sure How to get to the root of this problem..?

Problem: Windows Firewall Menu --> Opens and then 2-3 seconds later mysteriously closes itself...?

Problem: Windows Taskmanager--> Opens and then mysteriously closes also...?

With both of these issues .. they did'not start to occur until after I had started doing the most current updating...
ex.Windows explorer7, windows media player11, windows messenger.. I thought the problem stemed off of the new WMSG'er with it's new and improved file sharing options.. but I un-installed it and it still continues.. lol

Help I'm so lost in the troubleshooting nightmare...

If you downloaded something called "Windows explorer7" I'd be concerned, perhaps you meant Internet Explorer 7?

Removing adware & spyware
faq608-4650

Try the free version of "Ewido" now called "AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5"

Windows Defender

If your scan programs fail to start, try running them from Safe Mode. System Restore can restore your settings and system to before the trouble started, but if it turns out to be malware it can also restore the malware. The moral of the story is don't remove restore points until you confirm it is a malware problem.

Okay, well yesterday I started my pc in safemode and ran Microsoft malicous software removal tool.. it detected something like 54,000 + infected files.. so I was feeling just a little bit of discomfort.. what was even worse was.. the program could'nt do anything about it..LOL oh yeah I can detect but I can't fix.. it told me in order to fix I need to buy a Virus scan/removal product.. OMG I really hate to start-up controversy, but come on now.. I just formatted this system about 2-weeks ago.. I've been pretty much just reloading all the drivers and initial peripheral software.. kinda funny I got a virus I haven't hardly downloaded crap in the last couple of weeks.. and now I get to pretty much re-format again.. now to get rid of this virus"worm" or go out and SPEND-$60+ bucks buying more software to not only eleviate the problem, but also to fill my HDD with more crap.. I find it very iritating that, I don't make any money off of these viruses that attack my system integrity but in turn I have to spend money to get rid of them.. or spend an entire day reloading my PC.. Don't get me wrong I'm not entirely Anti--> Anti-virus Software.. I had Mcafee for quite a while.. but it just irritated me more.. these anti-virus program manufactures do protect people.. but at the same time SCARE the LIVING crap out of them and BUILD to the already PARANOID MASSES!! with all these pop-up warnings and resubscription warnings I had been running my PC for the last 4-years before this last re-format with no anti-virus software what so ever.. and had not an issue one.. I had to format because of a system corruption due to a BURN't Ram module and a malfunctioning Videocard.. and now since I've done.. so I'm getting all this Virus crud.. I really don't see it.. I personally believe that Microsoft has up't it's security settings way too high since this last system upgrade.. with the new Internet explorer, messenger, and media player.. mainly cause like I said earlier I was not having any issues till I downloaded all the new updates.. I hate raising the flag of "conspiracy" or "rakateiring" but somebody is making money off of this whole VIRUS/WORM/ my pc is screw'd so now I have to go buy a Anti-Virus situation.. and it definately is not John Q Public !!

No one can afford any longer to run with an internet connection and not have a firewall and an actively scanning antivirus program.

In additon, I would add an actively scanning antispyware application.

Microsoft offers, free, both a firewall and Windows Defender, a very competent antispyware application.

For a freeware antivirus application, there are many. My personal favorites are either Avast 4 or AntiVir. Grisoft AVG has many fans.

To supplement these freeware offerings, there are excellent on-line antivirus scanners. These can find, and repair, virus infections. Try several. Kaspersky, Panda or Trend Micro are my favorites:
It is quite remarkable to have started from a clean install two weeks ago to 54,000 infected files. Be certain if the files are mainly from a backup that the backup copies are not the source of the virus infection. You could be reinfecting yourself by restoring these already infected files.

I personally feel almost 85-90% sure that this is not a virus or worm.. I think that the issue is a driver causing havoc on my system registry.. specifically a videocard driver.. I believe it has caused a compatability issue with my system.. corrupting files and throwing my standard windows security programs into high gear.. windows Malware removal was unable to tell me what the problem was.. only how many infected files I had.. and only something like a videocard driver is only thing I can think of that could possible infect so many different system files.. I'm gonna have to re-format.. at this point it feels like the right move.. but this time around I'm gonna use system restore like it's going out of style.. there's going to be a restore point after almost everysingle installation .. I got the memory to afford it.. it all just kinda sucks..

Can you give me your opinion on these free programs.. and if you think their safe:

MP3Gain - Spybot Search & Destroy - Audacity

them three are the only programs that I'm not 100% sure are safe.. all three are free software..I use..

The middle one is safe.
I know nothing about the first and last.

But if you have an active virus infecting files then no file is safe, because no file is still in its original form.

A videocard driver is not going to infect files in a way that the Malicous Software Tool would note. A registry change is not going to change files either.

Run the Panda ActiveScan online scanner and see what it thinks. This gives you a second opinion from which to help decide what to do.
