We have a compaq proliant Server running Windows Nt.The array card is in Slot 1 and we need to move it to slot 8. In order to comply with are Disaster Recovery Plan. However when we tried this we had the Blue Screen of death. After moving everything back to its original place .It booted up ok.Can we do this.

WHen you move the card, ensure that it is still allocated the same IRQ as in the old slot. "It's true, its damn true!"

Probably the driver keeps track of slot#,IRQ,INT.
Try the compaq- and driver-setup to get the new configuration recognized.

When you move the card, you should run Compaq System Configuration (Hit F10 on boot if its there...or boot using Compaq SMART START CD)

Compaq System Config, will analyse the hardware in the server. Then it will automatically configure the settings for the hardware...like plug and play. After every hardware change, you should run System Configuration.

In System Configuration, you will be able to verify that when the card moved, if the IRQ changed. You can change it back in System Config.

-hope this helps Joseph L. Poandl
