On my grandosn's PC On Start up the following message comes up ...

Invalid VXD dynamic link call from VWIN32(01)+00000714 to device "0009", service 1.

Your windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows set up program to correct this problem.

I have entered set up and selected restore default configuration but still get the above message.

Any suggestions?

Is this a Win98 machine?
If yes try scanreg /restore
Try reinstalling display drivers, or set the Display to 16-bit see if that helps

Yes it is Win98

I will give it a try when I see him later.

How does one re-install display drivers?

Thanks

Insert the drivers disk if you have it. If not you will need to download them from internet.
Goto device manager and either delete the current adapter and reinstall or update the driver.

do not have disk

He cannot access internet because of the problem

You could try update the driver and point it back to usually the windows\inf folder or system32 folder.
Your other option is to reinstall to a new folder e.g. windows.000 but your apps will also need to be reinstalled.
Or pull out the card see what make and model and download the drivers for him.

Thanks for your help

I do not have much knowledge of these matters but will see what I can do.

You should upgrade it to WIN XP.

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.
