Windows Movie Maker Error

I'm trying to troubleshoot an issue with Windows Movie Maker for my son and since I am completely inexperienced with this program, I will call upon this forum for help.
When he attempts to import music (mp3) from his music folder, he gets an error message that the file (path and name) can not be imported because the file is empty. It does this on all files. The files don't seem to be corrupted as they will play.
Any suggestions?
