I have a computer that came pre installed with windows xp media center. Well I needed to reinstall the os so I began installing media with the cd just as I would any normal windows installation. It asked me for disk 2 so I installed switched it out and then it asked me for Windows XP Pro Service Pack 2. I did install xp pro cd I have and I couldnt install the file it was requiring. Sorry if this is in the wrong forum I didnt know where else to post this. So if anybody has installed XP media 2005 from scratch please help me out.

tonycard,

You must be talking about "MS Media Center 2005", I do not know why they did not include SP2 with this but they didn't.

What they are referring to is a cd that has the expanded ServicePack 2 that was released over a year ago now. Many PC shops have this for free. If you have access to another PC & broadband connection you can download the file, but then you need to expand the \i386 directory and contents and burn this to a CD. You can also order this directly from MS.

Hope this clears this up
