Recently I was going through my Add/Remove window and I saw a couple items in there that I had already deleted (or so I thought)...so I tried to delete the item and when the uninstall program started it was going to uninstall a completely different program...one that I wanted to keep.......this has happened a couple times. It leads to believe my registry is kinda messed up. I did a registry check and it said "No Errors were Found". I have done a thourough disk scan and all that good stuff. My question is...if I reinstall Windows ME will it fix that problem ?? And in doing so, will it also get rid of my existing programs or will it just correct the problems in Windows ??

Before you reinstall ME, trying running regclean (a free download), along with Easy Cleaner. They are both free and will clean your registry. You might also want to d/l and install System Mechanic, which will clean up old files. Then do a scandisk and defrag. These steps should help you a lot.

Be careful with Easy Cleaner: it can kill ME's Help system (although there is a fix available it it happens). I recomment JV16 Power Tools. Just a warning, I'm not sure what the problem is with your registry.

Alcom , is regcleaner safe to use with Win ME? Awhil back there was a free tool to clean one's registry but it stated it was for 95 and 98 and not to be used by Win ME users. Is this the same tool? I am confused, or is it an upgrade of a previous version of regclean or a totally different tool?

cheers ghuzz
