Windows ME - Evaluation Copy - Win 2K problem

A friend of mine has been sold a computer with ME pre-installed. The system date on it was wrong. When he corrected the system date it wiped out the installation.
He called the guy who sold him the computer whose attitude was tough, and told him to re-install using the disk supplied.
However, he can only install if he sets his bios or system date back to pre-2000. This is only a problem when he goes to install other programs which then fail to install fully because of the date incompatibility.
Anyone know of solution apart from spending £80 on a full copy of ME?

Cheating the Eval copy into thinking the expire date has not come up is an offense MS can (I dont think they would do that) sue for. Just becareful posting things like this because MS does monitor these things for Piracy issues.

With that said, Setting your BIOS to an earlier date is about the only thing he can do. The other is to get a full the Full Version final release.

It sounds like a year 2000 problem.I'll tell you a secret .I had a problem w/ME, calledtech support. Becouse of the nature of my probl.Escalated tech support revealed to me {I,m not sopposed to tell anyone) but ALL versions including allsoo-called "upgrades" are full versions. MS just wants you to buy the previos versions. Soo goo figure.
You already have it .I found delete windows (save any stuff you can not recover and have the requested older OS disk handy, stick it in when it asks for a qualifying prod. That's after the setup wich you can manualy start by loging onto your CD, after a floppy boot to the A promt.
