I recently noticed a considerable slowdown in the boot-up sequence on my computer,I just did a clean install of windows Me,I checked msconfig, but all that was running on startup was the standard windows apps.the only pci card i have is my modem and it works perfectly and also have 2 64mb memory cards as well.I did my antivirus updates and all, nothing there, but every once in a while i will get an ms-dos compatibility mode problem with the hard drive, more often when i install my other hard drive, could it be that my driver for my hard drives is corrupt.

This is not really a big problem but it is driving me nuts trying to figure it out.

It also did this on my last installation of windows ME,also checked all bios settings, all are at defaults!

Any help would be GOOD.

sounds like you need to update the drivers for your motherboards ide controller.
Most motherboards manufactures recommend you install updated chipset drivers for there motherboards.
