If I "restart" my Windows 2000 server, it will hang at the blinking curser (bios?). f I power it down and then start it it starts up fine. I have searched the knowledge base and am unable to find anything useful. Any ideas?
If I "restart" my Windows 2000 server Why would you want to do this to a server? Powering down is the proper way of doing this. Glen A. Johnson

I work on my server remotely and need to restart. Any time you update it asks you to restart. There are a number of reasons to restart and not power down.
Thanks, I thought you were hardbooting the machine. I agree, there are times when you need to re-start. Can you do a restart while physically in front of the machine. It's possible it's trying to display a list of OS's. You can check on the properties in "My Computer". The advanced tab has startup and recovery. There's a check box there on how long it should hang to give you a list of operating systems. Uncheck that if it's checked. Glen A. Johnson
