I am getting a Windows File Protection Pop-Up at various times when I am opening programs. It doesn't happen everytime to the same programs. I put my Win 2000 disk in and it fixes the problem temporarily. I have been just leaving the disk in the drive to keep it from popping up all the time. Is there somewhere, a log or something, that I can look at to see what is causing this problem. I just installed SP3 and that didn't seem to help.

Try this:
1. Open a command prompt window
2. Type "sfc /QUIET" without the quotes and hit "enter"
This should stop the popups you are getting.

Hello,

You will need to reinstall the OS on your computer, or you can try to run a repair on your OS with your CD.

You can do this on top of your current OS, your programs and files will not get lost. I had the same problem on my computer once, and by reinstalling helped just fine;)

You might also want to get some virus checker software. Could be that a virus is out there changing some of you files. I would do a scan first and then a repair as suggested above. This will be your best fix.
