Question : I have windows 2000, SP4.

if you doubleclick on my computer, it is possible to browse the drives.
however if I launch windows explorer, and have the left pane displaying the folders view, than explorer hangs, or displays an error message : "explorer has generated errors and needs to close"

so as long as I do not use the left pane for the folders view, all is OK.

I reinstalled SP4, checked IE6 but all seemed OK to me...
I tried it with network drives mapped, and removed all network drives, but that made no difference

anyone any ideas ??

this is just about defragmentating the HDD. that is no issue with this PC.

windows explorer works OK, unless I click on the folders button which opens the pane on the left side of windows explorer.
