When I open up a folder in windows explorer and try and rename a file or type anything with the keyboard windows generates an error message with explorer and says that explorer will be closed. Does anyone have any suggestions?

What is the exact error message?

Ed Please let me know if the suggestion(s) I provide are helpful to you.

The error message was
"explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is being created"

I have found a few forums which have discussed this issue and many people have varying ideas about why it happens. I did find one idea that may help. One person suggested that it may have been a conflict between windows and another software. I think that may be true because it does happen whenever I have a certain software open. I will try it and see if that helps.

If you have any other suggestions please let me know.
Thanks
